I realised that I've learned many things the hard way. It isn't my choice but if I were to be given a choice now, between the hard way and the soft way... Honestly, I think I'll still stick with the hard way. I know it is easy for us to simply say but it is also as easy for us to fall. The impact of the fall will be determined by how hard life has been. It is subjective. I'm not saying life ought be harsh. But we gotta admit that (hypothetically speaking), the poor will be better survivors than the rich in wars. The poor understand the meaning of rationing, the rich just want the whole chicken to themselves. (Okay I might be stereotyping but I presume you get my point.) When life gets too comfortable and easy, we sometimes lose deeper understandings and meanings of many things and values in life... Subconsciously, we can indeed get complacent. When women like us were young, Mattel Barbie dolls were no big deal. When many guys were boys, RC cars were replaceable by Lego. Did it ever occur to you that many kids in the world don't even come an inch close to such luxuries we have? And even so, we deem these luxuries as normal products kids should grow up with. We should really learn how to not take the good things in life for granted. As for things we thought would knock us down, they actually lift us up... When we learn things the hard way, we will realize that there's a much bigger plan out there for us. Doubtlessly, there's a deeper and a more meaningful dimension of life.
